NAGCO Water Vapor (Pipeline) H₂O detector tubes are designed for measuring water vapor concentrations in natural gas and pipeline applications using NAGCO pumps and tubes. The tubes provide three measurement ranges for flexibility across different moisture concentrations.

The tube uses a chemical reaction between water vapor and magnesium perchlorate to produce the color change used for measurement. The color may tend toward purple as temperature decreases, so temperature should be considered when interpreting results.

Cross-Sensitivity: The datasheet reports no apparent response to methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen chloride, gasoline, heptane, ethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, or toluene under the listed conditions. Hydrogen sulfide produces a reading of less than 3 lbs/MMCF, while ammonia can produce a significant apparent reading. Methanol may produce a light green stain above 80 ppm and requires special consideration when measuring water vapor.

Important: Other possible interferences include amines and alcohols. No effect was reported from 500 ppm PH under the conditions listed in the datasheet.
